Julie Ann Winn, my mother and mentor, always loved eloquent things.  After witnessing her passion for alluring fabrics, exquisite flower arrangements, making tired treasures look au courant, and her heart for interior design, this creative world became an organic path for me to follow.  With a degree from Elon University in Sport & Event Management, I have known I had a vibrant passion for the event industry for years and wanted to learn everything I could about the business side in my studies.  It was through my integral experience during the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece that I learned the ‘ins and outs’ of event planning.  After several years of wedding and event management on Kiawah Island, I then worked for a wedding firm located in downtown Charleston for three years.  This is where I was able to spearhead many beautiful weddings and I learned an abundance about production and floral design.  Towards the end of 2012, through God’s timing and much encouragement, I knew it was time to chase my dream and launch Sage Innovations.  My passion is in connecting people and keeping track of all of the minute details, which to me are invigorating.  I love to organize just about anything and truly have a heart for planning.  Born and raised in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville, VA, I have a deep love for nature, wine tasting, delicious food and history.  What better place to find all of these than in Charleston?  {Sage} is defined as ‘wise through reflection and experience,’ while {Innovations} portrays ‘the introduction of something new, or a grand idea.’  From there, you have Sage Innovations.

During my senior year of high school, we were given an assignment to select a song that most encompassed our being. The song I chose: “The Wedding March.” My fellow classmates were asked to write the words that came to mind when they heard that song and thought about me. They chose: girly, proper, bubbly, optimistic, romantic, and triumphant. Even to this day, I would still pick this song and would like to think those words would stay the same. Needless to say, I knew I was made for this industry early on.

Although I was born and raised in the Midwest, I have always felt as though I was southern at heart. After planning weddings and events all over the country from Brooklyn to Sonoma back to Newport, RI, down to Miami, and even working at the London 2012 Olympics, I decided to settle down in the Lowcountry to become a full time wedding coordinator.

With a love for pink, champagne, happy couples, the groom’s “first look” and anything sunshine-y, I have found a forever home with Sage Innovations. When I’m not working, you can find me writing on my wedding blog, The Petal Report, or practicing calligraphy and painting. With an outgoing personality and a strong attention to detail, I have the ability to connect with all different couples’ personalities and visions. I would love the opportunity to help plan your dream day today!

When I was eight I asked my mom to sew me a wedding dress as a Halloween costume and from then on I have been captivated by the elegance of weddings. Fast forward to when I was 18 and it wasn’t my mom sewing me a gown but me sewing myself a prom dress. All my life I’ve had an eye for design and finding creative outlets in things like pottery and sewing has helped me harness my passions.

My childhood was spent not only in the United States, but also in England and Japan. Partly as a result of this continent-hopping, I love to meet new people and experience new places. Deciding to major in hospitality and tourism management at Virginia Tech was an easy choice; event planning and design is what I have always done, because it is what I love to do.
